During Icelandic summer nights the daylight just seems endless. This unique whale watching tour departs in the evening from Reykjavík’s Old Harbour. Over the puffin season (early May to mid August) the tour stars off with visiting the puffins in their natural habitat on the islands of the nearby bay. Then you will cruise out under the midnight sun over Faxaflói Bay in search of whales & dolphins in the custom designed RIB boats.
The boats are specially designed to get you closer to the whales and bird life with their speed and manoeuvrability giving you the ability to cover more area in the search of the incredible wildlife in the bay. When possible we switch the engines off completely to give the wildlife (and you) the serenity to fully enjoy the nature under the colourful hues of the evening sky.
During the bright Icelandic summer nights an evening cruise is the ideal way to make the most of your day in Reykjavík. As the whales never fully sleep you can expect encountering the same wildlife on this express whale watching tour as on the regular day tours.
The return to the Reykjavík harbour is completed with a unique ride along the city’s shoreline offering magnificent views of the Sun Voyager sculpture and the glittering Harpa Concert Hall.

Cancellations due to weather: Sometimes this tour is cancelled due to winds in the main whale habitat area. In such an event you are offered three choices: You can re-book your tour at a later date without any additional costs. Sometimes the bigger sightseeing ships are sailing (they sail in more wind then the RIB boats) and you can go on this tour instead (being refunded the difference). Or you can take a full refund. The incredible Whale Safari Whale Guarantee: If you don´t see whales on your RIB tour (very unlikely) you can go again for free, this time around trying the bigger boats. And get this, you can choose where you go again, in Reykjavík or in Akureyri in North Iceland.
You will be provided with warm flotation suits and all safety equipment.
Dress warmly for the cold North Atlantic ocean. Bring warm outdoor clothing like a wool or fleece sweater, some warm headgear and gloves. Sturdy shoes are recommended.
