SUP IN THE FORGOTTEN FJORD

From 16,900 ISK

Stand Up paddle boarding is an exceptional way to experience one of Iceland’s longest fjord Hvalfjörður, translating to The Whale Fjord. Scraped out by a moving glacier during the last ice age, this fjord is incredibly deep and tranquil making it the perfect place to paddle your way across the ocean amongst the puffins, eagles and other birds living in the area and curious seals who swim around you.

The sprawling mountain ranges on either side of this deep fjord, created in Iceland’s volcanic past, will leave you in awe. The trip will begin with you being picked up in Reykjavík at a designated spot near your accommodation. You will have a dedicated professional SUP guide throughout the day who will teach you techniques and safety, as well as revealing the history and nature of the area on the way to the Fjord which is about 1 hour away from the city.

Upon arrival in Hvalfjörður you will be kitted out with all the necessary gear in either wetsuit or drysuit before getting introduced to the water. You will have your own SUP and paddle to explore the fjord. Your guide will be with you in the water at all times showing you some of the best spots to take in the view and keep you safe. No fitness level is needed as the trip will be suited to your level of SUP experience. You will have plenty of time in the water to soak in the majestic scenery. The water is incredibly clean, clear and often as smooth as glass. It’s a great spot to explore, paddle and swim in to experience what the Icelanders have been doing for years.
