Discover the awe-inspiring beauty of Iceland’s ice caves with Local Guide of Vatnajökull on our full-day winter adventure. Climb aboard their customized super jeep vehicle as you venture to a nearby outlet glacier of the Vatnajökull icecap.

Once you arrive, prepare for a 1,5-hour hike across the vast expanse of glacial ice. Meeting point

The meeting point for this tour is located at Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon, which is a 370 km (230 mile) drive east of Reykjavík. This meet-on-location tour ensures easy access for all adventurers! You must arrive at least 15 minutes before departure to begin your unforgettable journey. Once you come to Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon, you will find Local Guide’s Super Jeep by the main parking lot, next to the café.

Transport to the cave from the Local Guide meeting location in their 4×4 Super Jeeps, an English-speaking glacier guide and all the safety equipment. 

Exclusions
Hiking boots (rental available), rain gear (rental available), warm clothes, food and drink, transfer from Reykjavík

Meeting location
Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon car park (see map below) GPS: 64.0478597, -16.1789879. There you will find a Super Jeep Truck labeled Local Guide of Vatnajökull.

PLEASE NOTE: Due to ice cave accessibility conditions for this winter (2024-2025), the Ice Cave Discovery tour is not operating. You can book the Ice Cave Tour instead.

Attention: Prepare for Adventure

Ensure you’re equipped for the journey ahead with sturdy hiking boots, all-weather outdoor clothing, gloves, a wool hat, and a small backpack with essentials.
