Day 1 | Explore The South Coast

Your private guide will pick you up from your Reykjavík accommodation to whisk you away on an unforgettable journey following our Iceland Must See Private Tour itinerary. Beginning with the awe-inspiring Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss waterfalls. Marvel at the unique hexagonal basalt columns and crashing waves at Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach.

As we venture further east, the landscape transforms, revealing majestic glaciers and towering mountains. Our accommodation for the night offers traditional Icelandic meals and is in a prime location for viewing the northern lights.

During your private tour, while staying outside the city, your guide will lead you on a northern lights hunt on one evening. By monitoring the forecast and conditions, they will choose the best night for this magical experience. Depending on the conditions, you may drive to an optimal viewing spot or simply step outside your hotel to witness the aurora. Your guide will provide expert tips on how to spot this natural wonder.

Where do we stay? We stay at Hótel Glacier Lagoon or Fosshotel Glacier Lagoon on our first night of the tour (or equivalent).

Day 2 | Ice Cave Adventures within Vatnajökull National Park

Prepare for a day of glacier exploration as we embark on a journey to the Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon. This is a true must see sight! Our Ice Cave & Super Jeep Adventure takes us deep into the rugged terrain, where we witness the captivating blues and textures of the glacier’s interior. To learn more about what the ice cave tour entails, give our Glacier & Ice Cave Guide a good read.

Afterward, we bask in the splendour of Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon and Diamond Beach, surrounded by floating icebergs and black sand shores. Today is the most adventurous day, but is also the most rewarding. Especially with the views of the surrounding area from the glaciers.

Looking for a little something extra?
As an alternative to the ice cave options mentioned above, consider joining our helicopter partners based in the south-east. They’ll fly us away to explore more remote ice caves, particularly the breathtaking Blue Dragon Ice Cave. After landing, a brief stroll leads us to the cavern’s massive opening, allowing us to immerse ourselves in the grandeur of this extraordinary natural wonder.

Day 3 | South Coast at Leisure with optional extras

After yesterday’s epic adventures, let’s take it easy today. We’ll begin our journey back west, stopping at scenic spots along the way, before reaching the picturesque town of Vík in time for lunch. For those looking to unwind, Vík offers the opportunity to explore or shop for souvenirs. Our hotel for the night is just a short drive away, allowing you to relax and reminisce over the memories captured in the past couple of days.

For those craving more adventure, we offer exciting optional extras, each as thrilling as the last. Please note that only one option is possible this afternoon, and additional days will be needed for multiple activities.

  1. Feel the heat at the Icelandic Lava Show in Vík. Here you’ll get to listen to locals share tales of past eruptions’ ad they pour re-melted lava over ice, mimicking the eruptions in the area. This family-friendly experience is perfect for a chilly day.
  2. Embark on a horse ride on the famous Icelandic horse, renowned for its smooth 5th gait. The friendly Icelandic horse offers a unique perspective of Iceland’s hidden landscapes, away from the beaten path.
  3. Enjoy an exhilarating ATV tour through rivers and remote wilderness, for an adrenaline-fuelled adventure.

Where do we stay? Choose from various options in the area, including Skálakot Luxury Manor or the pristine Hotel UMI (or equivalent), based on your preference, for the next two nights.

Day 4 | Southern Highlands Super Jeep Tour

Today invites you to embrace the spirit of spontaneity as we embark on a captivating journey into the enigmatic Southern Highlands. With each turn of the road, you’ll discover the ever-changing beauty of Iceland, guided by the whims of weather and season. Set off on a private exploration, where your knowledgeable guide will craft a bespoke route tailored to the day’s conditions. Ensuring you encounter the most breathtaking and secluded landscapes.

The Southern Highlands offer an authentic and intimate immersion into Iceland’s untamed beauty. Each tour is a unique and unforgettable experience, embracing the freedom to embrace the unexpected.

Day 5 | Golden Circle Marvels

After starting the day with a hearty breakfast, our Iceland Winter Tour continues. We’ll make our way to witness the awe-inspiring power of Gullfoss, one of Iceland’s most majestic waterfalls. From there, our journey takes us to the iconic geothermal area of Geysir, where the erupting geyser Strokkur puts on a mesmerizing display every 5–10 minutes.

Later, we’ll have lunch at the renowned Friðheimar Tomato Greenhouse farm, a culinary oasis nestled amidst the tomato plants. Here, you’ll savour their famous tomato soup, ravioli pasta, grilled tortilla pizza, and freshly baked bread—a must-eat experience that entices your taste buds. Don’t forget to say hello to the friendly Icelandic horses before we continue our adventure.

Our journey culminates at the historic Þingvellir National Park. This is the birthplace of the world’s first known parliament and a geological marvel. The national park is situated within the rift valley of the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates.

Where do we stay? Tonight, the choice is yours: journey onward to the renowned Blue Lagoon for a luxurious two-night stay at the 4-star Silica Lagoon or the 5-star The Retreat. Alternatively, opt for an evening of exploration in Reykjavík, where you can immerse yourself in the vibrant culture and culinary delights of Iceland’s capital city. We’ll spend the next two nights here.

Day 6 | Lava Tunnel, Volcano & Blue Lagoon

Set out on a captivating journey through the UNESCO Global Geopark of the Reykjanes Peninsula, beginning with a late-morning pickup. Our first stop is The Lava Tunnel, one of Iceland’s most remarkable natural wonders and among the longest lava caves in the country. Delve into the depths of this ancient lava tube, tracing the path of molten rock from the Leitahraun eruption over 5,200 years ago.

Finally, as we journey back, we’ll meander along the scenic route flanking Lake Kleifarvatn, offering stunning vistas of its tranquil waters. Our next destination is Krýsuvík. This is where you’ll embark on a walk through the geothermal hot springs, reminiscent of the Martian landscape. Time permitting, your guide will unveil additional hidden gems along the way, ensuring an enriching and unforgettable exploration of the Reykjanes Peninsula.

This concludes your Iceland Must See Private Tour, which takes you to some of Iceland’s most celebrated sights!

Looking for a little something extra?
