Private Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon Tour & Glacier Hike Itinerary

Uncover the wonders of southeast Iceland on this unforgettable journey.

Day 1 | Southeast Bound
Waterfalls, Black Sand Beaches & Scenic Wonders

Setting out from Reykjavík, we journey to the breathtaking Seljalandsfoss waterfall, where, in good summer conditions, you can experience walking behind the cascade for an unforgettable view. Our next stop is Skógafoss waterfall—a dramatic 200 ft (61 m) fall, with a stairway offering panoramic vistas at the top.

Continuing our tour, we arrive at the renowned Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach, famous for its striking black sands and unique basalt columns. Here, you’ll have time for lunch at the Black Beach Restaurant before we head through the charming town of Vík and travel alongside Vatnajökull National Park, home to Iceland’s highest mountains and sweeping glaciers.

In the evening, unwind at Hótel Jökulsárlón with access to outdoor hot tubs and a sauna, offering the perfect end to a day of Icelandic exploration. With long summer nights, immerse yourself in the pristine landscapes surrounding your accommodation.

Day 2 | Glacier Wonders
Exploring Vatnajökull National Park’s Glacier Landscapes

Today, we delve into the southeast’s glacier marvels, beginning with a visit to the stunning Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon. Here, you might spot seals gliding between the massive icebergs that drift in the lagoon before they wash up on the black sands of Diamond Beach—a truly mesmerising sight.

Then, we embark on a thrilling glacier hike on Falljökull glacier*. With expert guidance, you’ll explore the glacier’s intricate formations and vibrant blue hues, capturing unforgettable photos of this ever-changing ice landscape. After this incredible experience, we start our journey back to Reykjavík, pausing for a late lunch at a local restaurant, and aim to have you back in time for a dinner in the city.

* The glacier hike is not private, but with a small group operated by our local partners.
