Arrival day
Arrive in Iceland. Transfer from KEF Airport to Reykjavík using Icelandic Taxi Tours private transportation. As part of this transfer, for an extra fee which can be added during the booking process, you can choose to add a stop at the Blue Lagoon before heading to Reykjavik. Blue Lagoon admission needs to be booked separately directly through Blue Lagoon. Your driver will wait whilst you relax in the warm waters of the Blue Lagoon. Afterwards they’ll transfer you to Reykjavík to check in to your accommodation there. Check into your accommodation in Reykjavík and have a wander in the downtown area of Reykjavík.
You could look to join our friends from Wake up Reykjavík for their Reykjavík Food Walk. This is a great way to get to know the culinary culture of Reykjavík as well as getting to know the city better. The 3.5 hour tour is 13,900 ISK per person and that includes all food from 5 restaurants in Reykjavík. You won’t walk away from this tour feeling hungry!
Grand Circle 7 Day, 6 Night Private Tour
Day 1 of 7 | Golden Circle: Platinum Tour
On our Golden Circle: Platinum Tour we start with the of the most historic and stunning sights in Iceland. Þingvellir National Park, where the tectonic plates are pulling apart, is also the site of the first parliament here in Iceland just after settlement. Then we head to Friðheimar Tomato Farm for lunch where we eat from their delicious tomato inspired menu right inside the greenhouse amongst all the plants. It’s a truly unique and amazing experience. After lunch it’s off to see the famous sights within the Golden Circle. The mighty Gullfoss waterfall, the erupting geysers and geothermal area of Geysir. We then head straight to warm up and soak in the natural hot springs of the Secret Lagoon, Iceland’s oldest natural swimming pool. From here we make our way to Hotel Vos for the night. A great first day and perfect mix of learning about Iceland’s geology and history, with some unique twists.

Day 2 of 7 | South Coast Sights and glacier hike
Today we visit Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss waterfalls before the true highlight of the day, hiking on an enormous glacier. We hike on Sólheimajökull glacier, exploring the incredible glacier features, textures and crevasses. Next its on to lunch and taking a walk on the black beach of Reynisfjara. We continue our drive further east where we’ll soon start to see the spectacular glaciers and Iceland’s highest mountains. We stop at Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon to watch the giant icebergs float around and wash up on the black sand shores of Diamond Beach, glistening on the sand. If we are lucky we will spot seals swimming between the ice bergs. After another big day we rest easy at Lilja Guesthouse. The restaurant here showcases traditional Icelandic family meals using local produce.

Day 3 of 7 | East Fjords
We leave the south coast this morning and make our way through the east fjords of Iceland. We start the morning visiting one of Icelands most spectacular beaches on Stokksnes Peninsula where Vestrahorn mountain towers over the black sand beach making a spectacular setting. We continue north and before stopping to hike up to Iceland’s second highest waterfall Hengifoss, towering over 120m, before driving into the capital of the Eastfjords, the town of Egilsstaðir, where we’ll spend the night.

Day 4 of 7 | North East Iceland
We visit Dettifoss waterfall, Europe’s most powerful waterfall with it’s hypnotising voluminous flow before exploring the mystical landscape around the Lake Mývatn. Next up we explore the mars like landscape by Námaskarð geothermal mud pools and have a look into Grjótagjá cave made famous by Game of Thrones and Dimmuborgir, or the Dark Fortress, consisting of incredible lava rock formations. We make our way to bathe in the warmth of the mineral rich alkaline water Mývatn Nature Baths often referred to as the Blue Lagoon of the North. In Icelandic these baths are called Jarðböðin because the hot water comes straight up out of the earth. We then travel to Akureyri, visiting the wide and dreamy crescent shaped waterfall, Goðafoss, is the last stop of the day before we journey to Eyjafjörður, on our way to Akureyri, the capital of the north before where we spend the night.

We start the morning by joining a whale watching tour out to Eyjafjörður from Hauganes to see the giants of the ocean up close. After we continue our drive west, passing through the small farming towns of northwest Iceland. We will stop by Glaumbær farm where we can walk through and see the restored old turf houses and farms and get a sense of life in early times in Iceland. We then do a short hike up Grábrók Volcano Crater. From here it’s only a short drive to where we’ll stay for the next two nights at the wonderful Fosshotel Reykholt. Reykholt is most famous for being the home of Iceland’s best-known author Snorri Sturluson during the years 1206-1241. An ancient geothermally-heated pool, Snorralaug, is named after him. It is one of the few things preserved whole from Iceland’s medieval period.

Day 6 of 7 | Snæfellsnes Peninsula & Optional Horse Riding
Today we travel around Snæfellsnes Peninsula where you’ll witness fjords, mountains, volcanoes, endless lava fields, glaciers, and dramatic coastal cliffs all in one amazing peninsula. We start by visiting Selvallavatn lake and lava fields. Then it is on to the famous Kirkjufell mountain, depicted in the hit TV series Game of Thrones as the Arrow Mountain. Next is the lava fields and black sand shores of Djúpalónssandur beach and the small village of Arnarstapi, which is surrounded by impressive basalt sea cliffs plummeting into the ocean. A quick photo stop is made at the iconic black church of Búðakirkja before getting back to our accommodation at Fosshotel Reykholt for our last night of the Grand Circle Tour.

Day 7 of 7 | Best of West Iceland Snowmobiling, Ice Cave & Hot Springs
Today we venture inland on the inner-west of Iceland. We start by meeting the team from Into The Glacier at Húsafell to explore in depth Icelands second largest glacier, Langjökull. We make our way up to the top of Langjökull Glacier to snowmobile across Iceland second largest glacier. Once we are at the top we go inside the glacier in the Into the Glacier Ice Cave. This would be this snowmobiling and ice cave tour as part of a group. The natural ice caves are only accessible during the cooler winter months, but this Ice Tunnel is accessible all year round and a great option to explore the inner workings of a glacier and ice cave in the warmer summer months. Once we come back down to the small town of Húsafell visit the stunning waterfalls off Hraunfossar and Barnafoss before coming to the geothermal area by Deildartunguhver Europe’s most powerful hot spring where we can see the hot water and steam coming straight from the ground. We’ll finish the loop of the peninsula and be back in Reykjavik in time for dinner in the city wrapping up our grand circle of Iceland.
